RK Bagatsing is indeed grateful with the positive feedback he got from the guests who were able to watch the advanced screening of Summer MMFF entry, Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko (The Music of Rey Valera) last March 25 at the Gateway Cinema.
He was not the first choice to portray the OPM icon but it still landed on his handed for which he is beyond grateful with the trust provided by director Joven Tan and producer Edith Fider ng Saranggola Media Productions.
The immersion and preparations he did for the role was all worth it as his nuances truly resembles of the composer beyond the hit songs, Buhok Ko, Malayo Pa Ang Umaga, Mr. DJ, Pangako sa Yo, Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo, Maging Sino Ka Man, Kung Kailangan Mo Ako, Tayong Dalawa, Ako si Superman, among others. He watched Rey Valera’s interviews and concerts to be familiarized with how he sings and present himself.
“Tinulungan din ako ni Direk Joven kung ano ang gusto niyang makita onscreen o kung ano ba ang gusto niyang ikuwento. First time kong mag-portray ng isang true-to-life character kaya medyo challenging siya lalo na’t buhay pa yung tao, di ba?” RK shared.
The hit songs of Rey will be showcased in different segments highlighting the inspiration behind the songs. You can’t help but sing along with the music video like approach of the film.
