HERE COMES THE GROOM is a fantasy-comedy film that is the long-awaited sequel to the 2010 cult favorite “Here Comes The Bride” – starts off the same way as its predecessor: A solar eclipse triggers a mysterious magnetic field along a rural highway. A freak vehicular accident occurs, and the people involved realize thereafter that their souls now inhabit different bodies.
This time around, the SUV of the soon-to-wed Junior (Dee) and his pious family crashes onto a van carrying a transwoman Wilhelmina (Kaladkaren) and her fellow pageant kontiseras.
Enchong agreed to accept the role after a life-changing experience he had and “that will surprise my audience and enable them to appreciate me as an actor and not just someone who is merely trying to hold on to my past reputation.”
Dee acknowledged that if not with the director and Kaladkaren’s help, he will not be able to portray the role as its best. “Yung kalahati po ng trabaho, kay Direk Chris [Martinez] kasi buung-buo yung script nung binigay po sa amin.
“At kalahati po ng pelikula, dahil kay Kaladkaren. Yung generosity ni Kaladkaren para ibahagi kung paano niya gagawin si Wilhelmina, siya po talaga to.
Riot ensues when they realize later on that soul-swapping occured between Junior and Wilhelmina; Junior’s dad Rodrigo Sr (De Leon) and Wanda (Xilhouette); and Blesilda (Racal) and Whitney (Briguela).
It will be released in cinemas nationwide as part of the 2023 Summer Metro Manila Film Festival beginning April 8.
