Born on November 16, 1996, this 26-year-old budding international star got noticed after landing the role of Wataya Arata in the Chihayafuru trilogy (2016), which gave him the Newcomer of the Year Award at the 40th Annual Japan Academy.

Mackenyu has been playing piano since he was 10 years old. He later participated in the brass band of his high school in Beverly Hills, playing saxophone and flute.

He showcased his impressive singing voice after making a cover of the hit pop song “Closer” by The Chainsmokers a couple of years ago.
