Ka-Pares sa Pag-Ahon Program brings smiles and full bellies to those in need

Independence Day in the Philippines was made even more special this year as Ahon Mahirap, a dedicated advocacy group, organized a heartwarming event at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. The Ka-Pares sa Pag-Ahon Program, led by Ahon Mahirap Chair and Founder Wilbert Tolentino and President/Founder Kristine Caballero-Aplal, brought together over 1,250 individuals to enjoy a delicious meal of “pares” free of charge.

The event was a true testament to the spirit of generosity and community that defines Independence Day celebrations. Volunteers and the Ahon Mahirap Team worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone was served, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and unity. This gesture of kindness not only fed the bellies of those in need but also warmed their hearts on this special day.

Ahon Mahirap, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underprivileged communities through education, has been making significant strides in improving the lives of disadvantaged youth. Their formalized structure has allowed them to expand their reach, with leaders in Metro Manila and provinces implementing their initiatives.

Ahon Mahirap’s commitment to alleviating poverty through social justice, financial literacy, and economic empowerment was evident in every plate served. The outpouring of support and participation from the community highlighted the impact that small acts of kindness can have on those facing challenges. Founded in 2020, the group aims to “create a society where every Filipino has the opportunity to achieve a dignified and equitable life“.

Looking ahead, Ahon Mahirap is focused on expanding their efforts to reach more communities in need. Ms. Kristine expressed her desire to bring the “KA PARES SA PAG AHON” Project to other locations, while Wilbert aims to serve even more children and areas requiring assistance. Those interested in supporting their cause can reach out through their social channels or visit their official website for more information on how to get involved.
