Emerging PPop Star Los Akiyama Debuts with Soulful Single “Buti Na Lang”

The young artist aims to make waves in the music scene with his heartfelt track and captivating music video.

The newest musical sensation arrived, Los Akiyama, has officially launched his solo career in the Pinoy Pop (PPop) genre with the release of his debut single “Buti Na Lang” on August 2. Accompanied by a visually stunning official music video, this track embodies themes of love and personal growth—an anthem for anyone facing uncertain transitions in life.

Written by Jason Dedal and arranged by Brian Lotho, “Buti Na Lang” marks the beginning of Los’ journey as a recording artist under Insight 360 Music, founded by renowned public relations expert Chris Cahilig. “I am incredibly excited to share ‘Buti Na Lang’ with the world,” said Los. “We worked very hard for this song and video, and I truly hope it resonates with the Filipino audience.”

The narrative-focused track speaks not only about opening doors to new love but also parallels Los’ own journey as he contemplated leaving a stable corporate career for a more passion-driven path in the arts. This decision aligns with his recent recognition as Best Supporting Actor at the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival for his role in the short film Kung Nag-aatubili, solidifying his place in Philippine cinema.

Los collaborated closely with student director Dizelle C. Masilungan for the music video—a project that showcases their combined creative vision. The production team featured talented individuals across various roles, including Denver Kyle Pangilinan as assistant director and colorist, and Anton Stefano Acosta as director of photography.

“Working alongside such passionate creatives has been incredibly rewarding,” Los remarked. “It encourages me to strive for excellence in every aspect of my work.”

A graduate Cum Laude in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University, Los balances his academic achievements with artistic pursuits including theater and music. Raised in a close-knit family where support was paramount, he attributes much of his success to his upbringing and encouragement from his mother.

As Los looks ahead, he hopes to diversify his roles in film while improving his artistry across music and directing. His ambitions extend beyond just performance; he aims to create meaningful cinematic experiences that resonate deeply with audiences.

For aspiring entertainers, Los advises embracing authenticity: “In today’s world, there are so many ways to showcase your talent and connect with people who appreciate it. Just put yourself out there.”
