RetroSPECT’s JMRTN Teams Up with Lani Misalucha for Exciting New Single

The dynamic duo gears up for a series of concerts following their collaboration, “Iisa lang.”

In the vibrant music scene of the Philippines, Guam-based artist J Martin Castro, known as JMRTN, is making waves with his latest collaboration alongside the illustrious Lani Misalucha, Asia’s Nightingale. Their single “Iisa lang,” which debuted in August, is not just a testament to their musical synergy but also marks the beginning of an exciting journey that will see them perform together in various locations across the Philippines.

Reflecting on his experience working with Misalucha, JMRTN expressed admiration for her professionalism and welcoming spirit. “Lani is one of the most dynamic voices of Filipino singers. She’s also dynamic as a person. Sobrang bait and so easy to work with,” he shared. The two artists initially launched their song in Las Vegas, where they recorded the accompanying music video, and their chemistry was palpable right from the start.

In a candid moment, JMRTN recounted, “Pinakinggan niya, kinabukasan sabi niya, ‘Maganda siya, let’s do it.'” This excitement has translated into their upcoming series of performances, with fans eagerly awaiting their bar tour slated for November 14 at Bar IX in Molito, Alabang, followed by another show at Bar 360 at Newport World Resorts on November 15.

In a recent interview, he candidly shared that his decision to go solo was largely influenced by economic factors. “Sa totoo lang, I decide to go solo due to economic reasons. I need to go afloat and since this is the only thing I do best, might as well go solo,” he explained.

Despite this new journey, JMRTN remains close with his bandmates, who continue to support each other’s artistic endeavors. “Hindi naman ayawan. Hindi kami umayaw. I’m the leader of the group, I’m the manager and chief composer of the group. Whenever we come up with an album, ako ‘yung producer ako rin ang composer,” he reiterated. His commitment to collaboration and friendship within the band reflects the strong bonds they have built over the years.

As JMRTN forges ahead into his solo career, he is eager to explore new musical landscapes and collaborate with emerging artists. He specifically mentioned his admiration for Gen Z artist Maki, stating, “Gusto ko si Maki because parang wala siyang ginagaya. When we came out in the ’90s kasi wala rin kaming ginaya.” This appreciation for originality is a hallmark of JMRTN’s approach to music, and he believes that authenticity resonates deeply with audiences.

JMRTN is not slowing down, as he prepares for his solo performance at Bar 360 on October 11 and is slated to take part in the M.A.D.Z. Festival on October 12 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. He is also part of the “Rated GIGI 2.0” concert featuring Gigi De Lana and Gigi Vibes in Guam on November 23.

With a commitment to enriching the music landscape in the Philippines, JMRTN is poised to become a familiar face again in the industry. “Every time I go to Vegas, I have a room in their house kapag available,” he added, highlighting the close bond he shares with Misalucha. As both artists prepare for an exhilarating phase ahead, their collaboration promises to captivate audiences and cement their places in the hearts of music lovers everywhere.
