In the aftermath of Typhoon Kristine, one of the year’s most destructive storms, the BingoPlus Foundation has taken significant steps to assist affected families by distributing ₱37 million in financial aid. The initiative, which began on November 10 with a special turnover ceremony in Talisay, Batangas, is part of a broader commitment to support those impacted by the calamity, especially the 148 confirmed casualties nationwide.

During the ceremony, First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, alongside dignitaries such as DigiPlus Interactive Chairman Eusebio Tanco and Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez, presented financial assistance of ₱250,000 to each bereaved family. “The BingoPlus Foundation exists to provide more than financial aid; it is about creating hope, resilience, and real change,” Tanco stated, emphasizing the organization’s belief in proactive community support.

Typhoon Kristine wreaked havoc across South Luzon, particularly in Batangas where landslides resulted in extensive damage and loss of life. The province was subsequently placed under a state of calamity, prompting urgent calls for assistance from local leaders and community members.
Beyond immediate financial aid, the BingoPlus Foundation has previously mobilized support through initiatives including the distribution of rice to over 750 families in collaboration with the DSWD’s National Resource Operations Center. Partnering with organizations like ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya, the Foundation has reached an additional 1,000 families in regions such as Isabela, Aurora, Pangasinan, and Quezon.

Each effort reflects the Foundation’s commitment to its resilience pillar, ensuring that aid goes beyond mere financial support. Tanco expressed a deep commitment to uplifting communities, stating, “In moments like these, our commitment to making a difference is stronger than ever.”
Since its inception, BingoPlus Foundation has channeled over ₱100 million into various community projects, focusing on healthcare, livelihood programs, and educational grants. Through the establishment of PLUS Centers in Negros, Cebu, and General Santos, the Foundation aims to empower communities by providing essential resources for health programs, skills training, and livelihood support.
As the Foundation continues its mission to extend meaningful support, the collaborative efforts with local and national organizations signify a unified stand in the face of adversity. The ongoing pledge of aid and resources serves as a beacon of hope for many families navigating the path to recovery following Typhoon Kristine.
