In an exciting turn of events, celebrated director Frank Lloyd Mamaril has officially stepped into the music scene as a recording artist. His debut single, “Made to Believe,” co-written with budding composer Kier and arranged by Kiko Salazar and Alas, showcases a side of Mamaril that fans and colleagues are eager to embrace.
A Glimpse into Frank’s Musical Roots
Frank’s journey with music began in his youth, filled with joyous memories of singing on tables using makeshift microphones like sandoks or brushes. “I grew up in the Northern Mariana Islands,” Frank recalls with a chuckle. Though his parents were not professional singers, they encouraged his talent, prompting him to join church choirs and perform in singing contests—his early outlets for sharing his gift.

Returning to the Philippines with a strong determination to pursue a career in music, Frank experienced the highs and lows of the entertainment industry. “Every Thursday, after my class at 3 PM, I’d rush to auditions at ABS-CBN,” he reminisces. Despite the numerous rejections, his passion never wavered, leading him to represent the Philippines at the Metro Toronto Pop International Music Festival in 2004.

Transitioning into a Multi-Hyphenate Creative
Long before the term “multi-hyphenate” was coined, Frank embodied it. His career took off at ABS-CBN, where he worked in various roles—writer, producer, director—ultimately founding his multimedia company, FLM Creatives and Productions Inc. His impressive body of work includes directing sold-out concerts and winning accolades like the Director of the Year at the Asia Leaders Awards.
Yet, amid these accomplishments, his musical aspirations remained dormant, only to resurface during rehearsals for the concerts he directed. Encouragement from fellow artists led him to realize the need to reconnect with his musical roots.

The Birth of “Made to Believe”
Recognizing a calling to express himself musically, Frank collaborated with Kier, who was eager to learn production techniques. “Made to Believe” was born from this partnership—a single encouraging listeners to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams regardless of age or circumstance. “It’s just reminding people to believe in themselves so that they can reach further dreams,” Frank explains.

With this release, Frank continues to inspire through his artistic journey, reinforcing the message of self-discovery and perseverance.

Industry Recognition and Support
The response to “Made to Believe” has been overwhelmingly positive, with artists and industry veterans expressing their admiration. Notable figures like Cecile Azarcon and Martin Nievera have praised Frank for his seamless transition from directing to singing, a testament to his diverse talent and hard work.
Nievera’s touching feedback highlighted the strength of Frank’s journey: “Anything is possible if you believe in yourself. I believe in you, Frank!” Such sentiments echo the unwavering support from the creative community.

A Message of Inspiration
Frank’s story is a heartwarming reminder that patience and dedication can lead to the fulfillment of one’s dreams at any stage in life. From singing on makeshift stages to directing spectacular concerts and now launching his music career, Frank embodies the spirit of resilience.
