Their latest gem, “Jeproks: The Musical,” is a vibrant celebration featuring 15 original songs from the powerhouse rock icon, Mike Hanopol. Directed by the talented Frannie Zamora, this production is about to set the stage ablaze!

Stepping into the spotlight is David Ezra, an electrifying singer and actor who has the enviable task of embodying a character inspired by none other than Hanopol himself. You might recognize David as the son of OPM sensation Dulce.

“I’m diving into a genre that will reveal a new dimension of my artistry,” David shares, enthusiastic about breaking out of his usual comfort zone. With rock music as his new canvas, David’s leap into this project reflects his eagerness to show fans yet another side of his musical prowess. “Wala ng pag-aatubili” (There’s no hesitating), he declares. When the call came for a rock role, he couldn’t say no!

Unlike traditional auditions, David had a direct path to his role, having previously collaborated with Frannie and musical director Joed Balsamo, who already recognized his ability to thrive in rock songs. The audition process for “Jeproks” was unique—David simply sent in videos of him rocking out on his guitar to prove he had the chops!

“Hindi naman siya bago sa akin” (It’s not something new to me), David states confidently about portraying a real person. His previous roles include historic figures like Emilio Aguinaldo and playwright Aurelio Tolentino. To make his portrayal of Hanopol authentic, he immerses himself in learning nuances—not just of the music, but the impactful stories behind it.

As he gears up for the performance, David is excited about the challenges of originating a role, noting, “I love being the pioneer” in a production.
