Electrifying Moves: Hail Transport and Wuling Join Forces for Filipino Drivers

Revamping the Future of Transportation with the Driver to Owner Program

Exciting news, everyone! On June 20, 2025, a remarkable collaboration between Hail Transport, Inc. and GM Wuling Philippines officially kicked off with the launch of their groundbreaking Driver to Owner Program. Hosted at the GBF Building in Bridgetown, this initiative aims to transform the lives of Filipino drivers and create a sustainable future for transportation in the country.

With a heartfelt mission to support the livelihoods of TNVS and taxi drivers, the Driver to Owner Program promises to make vehicle ownership accessible for everyone, allowing drivers to own their electric vehicles in just seven years—without the usual burdens of high amortizations or boundary fees. This all-Filipino initiative showcases a genuine commitment to improving the riding experience while being fully compliant with the Department of Transportation’s modernization efforts and LTFRB guidelines.

Leading the ceremony were Lloyd Lee, the President and CEO of Wuling, and his remarkable wife, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, the 2011 Binibining Pilipinas Universe and Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-up. With Shace’s enthusiastic presence, it’s clear that Wuling’s commitment to making electric vehicles accessible to Filipinos is strong. “Our vehicles will only cost PHP1.00 per kilometer, meaning more savings for our drivers,” she explained. Plus, with 200 buildings and malls pledging to install EV charging stations, the transition to electric mobility couldn’t be smoother. Just imagine—charging your vehicle can go from 10% in one hour to a full 100% in just eight hours!

But this program is more than just saving on fuel—it’s about empowerment. Hail plans to roll out an impressive fleet of 20,000 Hail & Wuling EVs, with the first 5,000 units ready to hit the roads soon. Engr. Enrico Tamayo, Hail’s President, underscored the importance of this shift, emphasizing that the use of EVs is a more economical option compared to traditional vehicles.

The partnership is not just about driving; it’s about building a thriving community of drivers. “We will reward loyal drivers after seven years with loyalty awards,” Tamayo added, a refreshing approach amidst an industry often criticized for lacking such recognition.

Michael Delos Santos, Hail’s Chief Business Officer, proudly stated that Hail is 100% Filipino-owned and is focused on ensuring that its drivers see real benefits from the program. “After earning just PHP3,000, drivers can head home,” he said. With Hail’s commitment to safety and training, drivers can rest assured that they will be well-prepared for their journeys.

And let’s not forget Hail Protect—a new initiative providing drivers with robust insurance options and personal accident support. Jonathan Ramirez, CEO of Hail Protect, reassured attendees that it’s all about “not just coverage but confidence.” Hail Protect aims to empower mobility through insurance while also providing financial literacy and security to drivers and their families.

As we enter this exciting new era of electric mobility in the Philippines, it’s clear that Hail Transport and Wuling are paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for Filipino drivers. So buckle up—you won’t want to miss what’s coming next!
