Meet TV5’s New Bida-Kontrabida Queen: Pearl Gonzales Is Taking Over!

Okay, everyone, let’s talk about the new face taking over our screens. You might know her from her pageant days, but Pearl Gonzales is officially stepping into the spotlight as TV5’s “Bida-Kontrabida Queen”! This woman is everywhere, and I am here for it.

From the looks of it, she’s not slowing down anytime soon. She’s currently starring in the Cignal Play microdrama series, I See You, with Dimples Romana and Joem Bascon, and by the end of August, you’ll see her again as Sydney in another microdrama, Boys Love Triangle. Talk about booked and busy!

Pearl has been in the industry for a while now, starting with Star Magic back in 2013, with Liza Soberano as one of her batchmates. But she also took an interesting detour, winning Miss Global Philippines 2018 and even representing Quezon City in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant.

Her journey has taught her a valuable lesson: acting isn’t just about fame. “You’re doing it because you really love doing it,” she shared. You can tell she has a genuine passion for her craft, which she’s honed by watching and learning from seasoned actors like Dimples Romana.

During a recent chat, Pearl got real about her career and her dreams. When asked about who she wants to work with next, she said her number one crush is Enrique Gil! She’s hoping for a rom-com with him, even just so she can be his on-screen girlfriend. We love a girl who shoots her shot!

She also clarified that she and Paolo Contis are just friends, putting those rumors to rest once and for all.

While she’s done everything from thriller to comedy, Pearl’s next goal is to try a heavy drama. She also dreams of working with legendary actors like Maricel Soriano, Judy Ann Santos, and John Arcilla.

With her talent, determination, and growing list of projects, it’s clear that Pearl Gonzales is a force to be reckoned with. She’s not just a kontrabida or a bida—she’s both, and she’s owning it!

What kind of role would you love to see her in next? Let me know in the comments!
