20 Years of Loyalty: Sam Milby’s Moving Tribute to the Man Who Became His Father (And That HUGE Bonus Reveal!)

Wow. Just… wow.

If you’re looking for a success story that proves loyalty, vision, and genuine heart still win in the entertainment industry, you need to read this. I was honored to be present at the 20th Anniversary celebration for Cornerstone Entertainment, and I swear, I left the venue not just inspired, but teary-eyed.

This event wasn’t just a party; it was a heartfelt family reunion and a powerful reminder that the entertainment world, at its core, is built on relationships.

The First Artist’s Tribute: More Than a Manager

The emotional highlight of the night came from the man who started it all: Sam Milby, the very first artist signed by Cornerstone 20 years ago.

Sam’s tribute to Cornerstone’s Founder and President, Erickson Raymundo, was moving and profoundly honest. He didn’t just thank a manager; he thanked a mentor, a guide, and a father figure:

“…he’s just not a manager he’s much more than that he’s been my mentor he’s been my guide and most importantly he’s been a father-like figure for the last 20 years.”

Sam shared that Erickson didn’t just mold his career; he molded his character. He saw potential when Sam didn’t see it in himself, pushing him (even when Sam was “hard-headed”) out of his comfort zone to become the star he is today.

And to the incredible staff, who have been with him through “so many ups and downs,” Sam’s appreciation was palpable:

“thank you for just for the love the friendship the the patience with me um and just dealing with me for the last how many years now so I love you guys thank you i love you…”

That 20-year loyalty between the first artist and the agency is literally the cornerstone of this entire empire.

From Driver to CEO: The Humble Beginnings

When Erickson finally took the stage, he gave us the beautiful, humble origin story that every startup dreamer needs to hear. Forget the glossy celebrity photos—this company started small, with nothing but belief and hard work.

Sir Jeff proudly recalled the company’s tiny beginnings:

“20 years ago Cornerstone started with just one artist [Sam Milby] i was his driver his PA his stylist his road manager…”

He went on to acknowledge the very first employee, Kat, who handled everything from finance to administration for eight years. It wasn’t until a year later that he managed to convince his best friend and chef, Richard Poon, to join as an artist, leading to a platinum-selling career!

From one artist and one person wearing five hats (driver, stylist, PA, road manager, and manager) to an organization that grew large enough to form the sister company Spring Films in 2009—this is the true Filipino dream realized.

The Mic Drop Moment: A 15th-Month Pay Surprise!

Erickson’s speech was already inspiring, but he saved the most impactful moment for last. He paused to express his profound gratitude to the 60 employees who are the “heart and soul” and “lifeblood” of the company.

Then, came the news that made the whole room erupt:

“in fact this is our best year ever in the last 20 years… i know I’ve given you 13 month pay and I think you deserve a 14-month pay and I think you deserve a 15-month [pay]…”

Seriously, a 15th-month pay! That isn’t just a bonus; that is a CEO putting his money where his mouth is, honoring his team’s hard work, and sharing the success. It’s an incredible display of leadership and gratitude that sets a new standard in the industry.

Congratulations to the entire Cornerstone family on this momentous 20th anniversary! The foundation is clearly built on faith, hard work, and loyalty. Here’s to many more decades of making dreams happen!
