What would you do if you went to bed as a high-powered, ruthless attorney and woke up in a shabby apartment with a husband you don’t know and two kids who won’t stop asking for breakfast?
That’s the premise of “Wonderful Nightmare,” opening in cinemas this February 25. Based on the 2015 Korean blockbuster, this Viva Films adaptation is exactly what our hearts need this season.
The Ruthless Atty. Lui Manuel
Kim Molina stars as Atty. Ma. Luisa “Lui” Manuel. She’s the kind of lawyer who eats opposition for lunch—cold, calculated, and fiercely independent. Having been orphaned young, she built a wall around her heart made of designer clothes and a high-salary career. She doesn’t need men, and she definitely doesn’t need “love.”
But a clerical error in heaven (yes, even the afterlife has paperwork issues!) changes everything.

A Heavenly Mistake
After a sudden car accident, Lui finds herself at the pearly gates, only to find out she wasn’t supposed to die yet. To fix the “clerical error,” the Chief of Heaven’s Intermediary (played by the legendary Al Tantay) gives her a deal: live as another woman for one month, and she can have her old life back.
The catch? She wakes up as the wife of Julian Alcantara (Jerald Napoles), a sweet but corny municipal employee. Gone are the luxury suits; in their place is a “haggard” wardrobe and a meager budget that Lui would have laughed at in her past life.
The Chaos of “Family”
Lui isn’t just a wife; she’s now a mother to 6-year-old Justin (who is an absolute sweetheart) and 14-year-old Jaja (who is right in the middle of that spicy rebellious phase).
Between dealing with a grumpy neighbor (the hilarious Candy Pangilinan) and her new squad of side-hustling friends—Olga, Sansan, and Daisy—Lui starts to realize that the life she spent years avoiding might actually be the one thing she was missing.

The Heart of the Story
As someone who has navigated the fast-paced world of blogging and content creation, I really resonated with the message here. We spend so much time building our “brands” and our careers that we forget to build a home. Watching Lui’s perception shift from viewing this family as a “nightmare” to seeing them as her “wonderful” reality is going to be a tear-jerker.
But the clock is ticking. When the month is up, will she be ready to leave the only love she’s ever truly known?
