Run, Hakot, Win: Puregold Launches First-Ever 8K Challenge in Cavite

Puregold’s iconic “hakot” legacy recently took over Cavite, transforming the Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus into an electrifying playground for fitness enthusiasts and practical shoppers alike. The highly anticipated South Luzon leg of the nationwide Hakot Relay series drew an impressive crowd of over 4,000 eager runners. Participants arrived with their game faces on, ready to experience the perfect blend of intense competition, lively camaraderie, and the signature grocery-grabbing fun that makes this race entirely unique.

This year’s event upped the ante by launching Puregold’s first-ever 8K Individual Challenge. Around 500 dedicated solo runners stepped up to the starting line to test their endurance and push their physical boundaries. Unlike the traditional format, these athletes tackled the grueling longer distance entirely on their own, proving that the Hakot Relay is not just about bringing home everyday essentials, but also about crossing the finish line stronger than ever before.

Meanwhile, the rest of the massive crowd participated in the fan-favorite team Hakot Relay. In this highly engaging setup, teammates had to strategize and work seamlessly together to race through the course while actively collecting grocery items along the way. It was a thrilling test of speed, coordination, and teamwork, offering a playful and uniquely Puregold twist to the standard community fun run.

The finish line brought massive, tangible rewards for everyone who conquered the courses. Team relay participants gladly went home with a Grocery Sling Bag and a Finisher’s Grocery Bag packed with goodies. However, the ultimate surprise awaited the solo 8K finishers, who were gifted an exclusive finisher’s grocery cart wagon to effortlessly roll home their impressive loot. Beyond the race itself, participants celebrated their victories with sponsor-led stage activities, a lively awarding ceremony, and exciting brand sampling booths.

By expanding the beloved Hakot experience, Puregold successfully delivered on its promise to give Filipinos something thrilling to look forward to. As noted by Senior Marketing Manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, the event was a meaningful way to bring the growing running community together for a shared panalo experience. Ultimately, the South Luzon leg proved that whether you run solo or as a team, nothing beats the thrill of racing to the finish line and going home with a haul of free groceries!
