If a tiny spider in your bathroom already makes you nervous, Crawlers has a much bigger problem waiting for you. This creature feature delivers giant spiders, bloody encounters, and people making desperate attempts to stay alive. Itโ€™s an easy watch for a night when youโ€™re in the mood to shout advice at characters who probably wonโ€™t take it.

The film is at its best when it gets creative. A paintball sequence adds a clever visual twist, while unexpected objects become useful tools for survival. The cramped hallways, webs, and colored emergency lights make the building feel like a trap. Even an empty corridor starts looking suspicious.

The spiders themselves are a mixed bag. The larger creatures look convincing in some close-ups, especially when they suddenly charge into view. The smaller ones struggle when they crowd the screen. At those moments, the digital effects become distracting, taking some of the tension out of scenes that should make your skin crawl.

Thereโ€™s also only so much excitement you can get from watching people narrowly escape another spider attack. The repeated cycle of running, hiding, and almost getting caught can wear thin. A few more surprises would have helped keep the danger fresh.

Still, thereโ€™s fun in watching the characters figure out how to fight back. The film makes good use of unusual weapons and unlikely survival skills, giving its supporting characters chances to do more than scream. Matilda Lutz brings energy and determination to the chaos, making it easy to root for her when things get ugly.

And things do get ugly. The bloody effects give several encounters a nasty edge, while the filmโ€™s playful streak keeps the whole experience from becoming too heavy. It knows thereโ€™s something ridiculous about its situation and has fun with it.

Crawlers delivers enough inventive moments and creature chaos to make an entertaining movie night. The scares could be stronger, and the effects donโ€™t always hold up, but if giant spiders and messy survival battles sound like your kind of fun, this one should keep you entertainedโ€”and checking the floor before putting your feet down.
