You Are Home: Redefining Safe Spaces for Mental Health This World Mental Health Day

To commemorate World Mental Health Day 2026, #MentalHealthPH has teamed up with Y-Space at Yuchengco Museum and IKEA to present “You Are Home: Creating Safe Spaces for Every Story.” Anchored on the global theme of uplifting lived experiences, this interactive campaign aims to turn our everyday environments into sanctuaries of empathy and open dialogue. Beginning October 9, visitors are invited to reflect on what truly creates emotional safety within our personal dwellings.

The centerpiece of the activation transforms four essential household rooms—a bedroom, dining area, living room, and bathroom—into immersive touchpoints for rest, shared connection, and emotional renewal. Designed using familiar home furnishings, each space encourages guests to pause, process their feelings, and exchange written affirmations with others. Together, these reflections form a collective tapestry illustrating how ordinary corners of a house can cultivate psychological safety.

On October 10, the campaign hosts “Living Literatures,” an intimate Human Library-style session where attendees can borrow real stories directly from mental health advocates, including Riyan Portuguez and Kuya Kim Atienza. The weekend culminates on October 11 with “Living Voices,” an inclusive community choir workshop conducted by Sanghimig Performing Arts that honors every individual journey through collective song. Both activities foster deep human connection, demonstrating that no one has to navigate their challenges in isolation.

Beyond the physical venue, attendees can leave a lasting impact through the newly introduced “Notes of Hope” digital dashboard accessible via onemoredayph.org. By scanning QR codes throughout the museum, participants can send and discover anonymous messages of encouragement with people across the country. This real-time exchange extends the warmth of the exhibit to anyone seeking compassion and solidarity online.

Since 2016, #MentalHealthPH has continuously championed mental wellness through nationwide initiatives, educational drives, and award-winning digital advocacy. With “You Are Home,” the organization reminds us that a genuine home is far more than physical walls and furniture. Above all, it is a nurturing space where every voice is embraced with authenticity, warmth, and understanding.
